I just realized that it’s been pretty long since I posted last – just about two weeks. So I’m going to give you a quick update on what’s been going on in my life.

First off, week 9 of the quarter just got over, which means I’m really busy and finals are coming up soon. My room has been getting progressively messier despite my efforts to clean it every now and then. Last week, I even spilled a gallon of detergent on the carpet. That was a nightmare – it took me a whole pack of tissues, bottles of water, and a vacuum cleaner to get rid of it. Not only that, the vacuum cleaner had no filter thanks to some wonderful people I live with and my room was covered in sawdust and suds when I got done. Needless to say, that was not pleasant in the least.

As for my endeavors with violin education, I’ve been given contact information for some teachers, and I’ll be getting in touch with them soon. I’ll probably find a teacher back home for the summer, and then continue from fall with a different one. The books I talked about in my previous post have now arrived, and I look forward to learning from them.

Also, I’ve been working on a couple of tutorials, which I’ll try to be done with soon. Good things come to those who wait!

Today is a special day, for it marks the beginning of my life as an “intermediate” violinist. I just received my brand new Cecilio CVN-200, whose name suggests some sort of amazingly innovative technology and an over the top price tag.

Actually, it is quite a simple violin, and is pretty decent considering how cheap it was. The case is quite sturdy, and it comes with all sorts of nice accessories which make life just a little bit easier. Now before this begins to sound like a paid review (which it’s not, I swear!), I must point out that it has its flaws – the pegs won’t stay tuned for very long unless you happen to have peg drops, and the bows it came with are slightly warped.

I plan to practice playing it whenever I can, if only because I would waste that time browsing the internet anyway.

The case for my Cecilio CVN-200

The Cecilio CVN-200 itself

I apologize for not providing higher quality photos, I’m hoping to preserve my bandwidth in the long run.

In other news, I might audition for the private lessons offered by RIT for orchestra violinists. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll let a soloist take that course…obviously, Karine is not a soloist, so I won’t be getting as much out of it as I could elsewhere.
