The dragons have awoken. Long had legends been told, fading, fading in their credibility over the years. After all, men preferred not to believe old gramps’ tales as he might have had alzheimer’s, or an equally demeaning disease. They scoffed at the tales, considering them to be figments of an overactive imagination. Hardly ever had the thought of facing one of these beasts crossed their minds, and when it had, it had been a frivolous one.

But now, after spending an eternity in deathly slumber, their bloodlust has returned. Man is not prepared for them, because for him, they do not exist. It is said that they come from the fiery labyrinths of hell, and that Satan is one with them. It is rumored that one who has ever set his gaze on them seeks death in order to relieve himself from the horror. In addition, it may also be said that this post is gender specific, but that is irrelevant.

They are tired of consuming their kin, in their never ending quest for gourmet delights, their lurid gaze turns to us. Even now I can see them grin, I can see the delight in their eyes as they watch their next victims.

Unprepared though we are, we have had our warning. Under the dim lights of our lamps, we have sharpened our blades. We may be no match for them, but we shall surely cut deep. Dragon blood will soon be spilt. As I watch them unfold their wings, preparing for the attack, I cannot help but marvel at their grace. Nevertheless, my armor bears the mark of those who fought these creatures millenia ago, and I shall rise victorious.

They are the boards. I have sworn to slay the bloody beasts.
