I know I haven’t posted for a while, but I’ll be going to Japan in a couple weeks and will be busier than ever before. Not to mention I am working on a new project that is doing somewhat alright on the internet.

While looking around for some old, dead website, I decided to plug this blog of mine to the Wayback Machine:

Website Back Up

I have removed the issue my webhost had with the website – there were way too many spambots coming over and using the same file to post spam, which resulted in that file being flagged as a “major resource consuming script”. Well, now I’m using some cookie magic coupled with some .htaccess rules to prevent that from happening.

As to why it took me so long to fix that, I really didn’t have much to talk about. I am pretty busy with my academic life at the moment.

Also, I will probably be sorting the posts from the “Old Blogs” into various categories as appropriate. Since there are so many posts I need to take a look at and I would like to do it all together, it will have to wait until I have a large chunk of time to devote to it.

So yeah, I’m back, and at least now you can browse through the archives, even if I’m not posting too frequently.

The Irony of Spam

I logged in to my admin place,
the place I write this stuff,
and in my tiny comment space,
I found a lot of fluff.

“What’s this?”, I said, a bit confused -
I clicked on someone’s name,
and with my psyche slightly bruised,
I guessed this person’s game.

A ploy to sell some shady pills,
to my friends and similar folk -
as if the cost of our own bills
was not making us broke.

“It’s not a human being at all,
it’s just a script on cron!”,
my I.P. bans would barely stall
the bullshit these things spawn.

Do note, I use Akismet much,
and yes, it works, a lot -
and quite a bit of spam, as such,
is by Akismet caught.

Yet this is one persistent bunch,
these scripts with no AI,
despite my heavy server crunch,
they’ll post until I cry.

So I took my very last resort,
(censored tools) and DNS,
and broke into their :80 port,
the rest is yours to guess.

Note: This is actually what I did this weekend. Inspiration.

What Can You See From There?

Today was a pretty drab day, I gave up on making a new layout for my website and my violin instructor didn’t show up due to rain. He never comes when it rains, I wonder what’s up with him. He doesn’t even bring his own violin, so it’s not like he’s trying to protect that. Perhaps he drives a two-wheeler and cannot avoid being drenched.

Rain is always nice here, and the day’s weather is usually great afterward. Too bad I have an aversion to going out due to not having anything to do in the great outdoors. Having a huge amount of free time, I’ve been devouring movies, anime, music, and anything else I can get my hands on. By the way, by music I mean sheets of music that I play, there is no piracy going on here. Honest. :)

The title of this post comes from Bounen no Xam’d. I like it because it makes a good question for several situations. For example, to startle people right after they tell you where they’re from.

While I would love to sit here and type all night, I feel like going to get something to drink right now, so I will end this post…here. How’s that for decisiveness? Wait…OH.

A Quick Update

Yeah, yeah, I’ve been back for quite a while now…but nothing has really happened for me to blog about – until recently, that is.

You see, yesterday I went out and bought a new handset, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I believe it’s a fine piece of engineering at an affordable price, and I will be experimenting with it in the days to come.

Other than that, nothing of note has happened – violin lessons are still going on, and I’m still as bored as ever at home. The latter probably won’t last after I teach myself some symbian programming.

Lately I’ve been feeling like changing the design of the website again, and I will probably either remove or archive all previous posts. I guess it took me a long time to realize that all I really want is a personal blog without all this web development crap.
