While looking around for some old, dead website, I decided to plug this blog of mine to the Wayback Machine:

Argee.org back in the day

Can you believe this site used to look like that?

Was that better than this design?

I don’t know, but I sure as hell don’t have time for yet another redesign…yet.

You see, yesterday I went out and bought a new handset, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I believe it’s a fine piece of engineering at an affordable price, and I will be experimenting with it in the days to come.

Other than that, nothing of note has happened – violin lessons are still going on, and I’m still as bored as ever at home. The latter probably won’t last after I teach myself some symbian programming.

Lately I’ve been feeling like changing the design of the website again, and I will probably either remove or archive all previous posts. I guess it took me a long time to realize that all I really want is a personal blog without all this web development crap.

Looking forward to telling tales of my adventures when I’m back. Provided I don’t fall off a cliff or something.
Hell, I’ll be back anyway.
Later,

If there’s one thing I hate about being home, it’s the power cuts. It isn’t usually so bad since the inverter kicks in when the local power source pulls out, but during the past few days that thing has been acting up and a power cut means no electricity whatsoever for me.

Which also means no air conditioning and no router. Fortunately, I use a laptop and don’t automatically lose all my work like my sister does. Also fortunately, the inverter was fixed yesterday and power cuts only mean a drop in voltage that lasts seconds.

I woke up early today, which is rather unusual during vacations, and read the newspaper. It was somewhat hilarious, to be honest, and I must say that the world must be hard pressed for tragic incidents if ridiculous stuff like what I read is being published.

Still working on that layout for Code Ledger, though that one might only last a few weeks unless it happens to grow on me.

Let’s hope it does.

Under Construction notice at Code Ledger

During these past few days, I’ve been facing a new dilemma – choosing a domain name for a website where I can showcase my code and talk about algorithms and arithmetic. Despite owning a beautiful blog such as this, I feel that it wouldn’t really be very useful on my resume. After all, prospective employers would rather see my code than read my personal journal – or so I hope.

Among the many names that came to mind were – notmysegfault (too unprofessional), almostcode (almost?) and compileandrun (taken). In fact, most of the names I could think of were taken. Frustrated by the fact that most of these domains had been snapped up by domain squatters who were using them for absolutely nothing, and inspired by the idea of having a code “journal”, I took the obvious next step – looking up synonyms for journal.

Thanks to my handy thesaurus, I finally found a decent domain name that wasn’t taken – http://www.codeledger.com. Of course, I wouldn’t have settled for it if it hadn’t been for the apparent fame of Web Design Ledger, which proved to me that people know how to spell ledger and even remember such names.

So, what will this website be about? As I said, algorithms and arithmetic, with a bit of software engineering for good measure. I will also put my resume up for download there, which means Code Ledger will mostly be about sharing knowledge with a small amount of self-marketing.

Needless to say, I’m hyped. And you should be, too!
